The definition of the word “career? today typically relates to the main stream of remunerative work we do through the course of our lives. If you think about the concept of career in terms of the history of mankind, its a strange little thing that has only been around for a couple of hundred years. It is an aberration.
It only arrived with the organisation of large corporations and, with the continual development of telecommunications and resulting decentralisation of workforces, who know how long it will continue to exist. If you are honest with yourself, you will see that all “career? ultimately describes is our progression through a list of skills and opportunities someone else has made available to us, where someone else is telling us where we fit in, and what our value is.

Many people all over the world would forget important appointments and activities if it were not for alarm clocks. Most importantly, they help wake us up in time to get to work after we have had our sleep. People usually set their alarm clocks before going to bed. While most people sleep at night, yet there are many people who do shift work and set their alarm clocks to wake them up for shift work in the evening or to wake them after an afternoon nap. The tone of an alarm clock varies and people often choose one that is pleasant. Other people might sleep very soundly and need a louder tone to wake them up.
