6 Steps To List Building

Targeted list building is one of the most important things you can do for your online business. More people every day are realizing this and developing ways to get email addresses and increase their web traffic and sales. Here are 6 steps to targeted list building.
Step 1: Squeeze Page
One of the best tools for targeted list building is the squeeze page. This is a page that pops up when someone arrives at your sales page. It asks for their email addresses, and gives them the option to close the window if they don’t choose to.
Step 2: Check Boxes
If the squeeze page has been passed up by your customer, there is no reason why you can’t try again. Put a check box in a conspicuous place, and maybe offer them some information for free if they will give you their address.
Step 3: Information Requests
If someone writes to you asking for more information, they will have to give you their email address–this is a good way to targeted list building. Keep it on your list but give them an easy unsubscribe option. Many won’t bother.
Step 4: Coupons and Discounts
Even after you offer them something for free, they may not give you their address. They may not need what you’re offering, or they simply don’t think it’s worth it to be bombarded with ads. Try additional discounts or coupons.
Step 5: Face to Face
You may have just met someone who is interested in your product or service. Rather than tell them everything, get their email address and promise to send not only the information they want but one of your free offerings.
Step 6: Forums
Post to online forums, and when people ask about something related to your business, get their email addresses and tell them you will send it directly. Targeted list building is often a matter of knowing where to look for addresses.
