Finding Workable Solutions For Emotional Eating

Emotional eaters should never go on a diet. If they do, they run the risk of falling deeper into their respective eating disorder. Instead, they should focus on the factors that impact their emotional eating.
If you are interested in beating your eating challenge, this article will touch on the area of identifying and then managing whatever it is that makes you eat when not hungry.
People who have major emotional eating habits suffer just as much as those with major eating disorders. Self awareness of the problem is key. Certainly, once you are aware of the problem you are in a better position to manage it.
Don’t be concerned about the fact that a weakness has led you to an overweight or obesity issue. Let that go, deal with the problems at hand. You cannot change the past. You now need to take positive action to shore up your future.
Keep a dairy of your eating habits. Yes, record each time you eat something. Write the time of day you ate and the things you were feeling when you ate. At this point it is not so important to record what you eat. We’re only trying to find the triggers that send you to the kitchen when you weren’t hungry.
If emotions are driving your eating habits, in time you will zero right in on them. In the end, you will correctly identify your emotional eating triggers. After about a week check your diary.
Observe the consistent non-hungry eating and the emotional eating times. Has anything surfaced? Do you see yourself eating after an argument? How about after a good cry? Can you identify what drives you to the refrigerator? You have to be very honest with yourself.
Encourage yourself to put the food down during highly emotional times. Get your victories inch by inch. Seek the encouragement of friends and family, but plod on. Things will get better. A word of caution, if things do not get better, there’s nothing wrong with seeking the advice of a trained licensed therapist.
