Posted on March 30, 2008 - Filed Under Recreation and Sports | Leave a Comment

If you are like many other golfers, the pressures of business and family reduce your practice time on your game. Let me show you how you can keep your scores down by simply changing your playing strategy.

Don’t have a playing strategy? Well, you are not alone. Very few golfers step onto the first tee with any specific strategy other than to play each shot as it comes and try their best.

Golf Strategy

The majority of golfers who find it difficult to put in the practice time, have problems around the greens. If you don’t agree with me, count the number of strokes you consumed around the green on your next round. You will surprise yourself!

I think an excellent drill for infielders is what I call the Four Corners Drill.

I have stolen drills and I have created some that no one has stolen from me. One drill is called Right, Left, Pick-it-Up and I have used it a lot. It is a great drill.

I got this one from Gene McArtor at the University of Missouri. I have used it for a lot of years and I think it is really excellent.

Rambo Style Tag… Paintball Battles And Important Paintball Gear To Have

Posted on March 25, 2008 - Filed Under Recreation and Sports | Leave a Comment

Playing “tag” or “king of the mountain” has definitely turned Rambo-warrior, as the modern version of competitive paintball gaming takes over fields and forests. The formerly simple matter of chasing down an opponent has been replaced by a paintball speeding out towards an opponent at over 270 miles per hour. Paintball gaming is serious stuff as in “Mr. Antelope … meet Mr. Lion”!

Getting a score off another opponent, winning points yet keeping yourself free of eye, hand and lower body injuries (especially for the stalker crawler types playing improv paintball) means getting the right designed paintball gear without over-spending.

Going Back For More Fishing

Last week I was able to blow the dust off of my inflatable boat and float down the Bow River. We saw just how much damage those pesky beavers can do to the trees that line the banks of the river. We also were able to get a feel for where some of the Bow Rivers finest Trout are hiding out. We made frequent stops along our five hour float in some deeper holes.

Golf Club Fitting

Posted on March 22, 2008 - Filed Under Recreation and Sports | Leave a Comment

Most golfers nowadays rush to their nearest pro shop to buy the newest driver endorsed by their favorite PGA Tour superstar. They are attracted by the latest development in club technology, but the question is, is it the right driver for you? Common sense clubfitting is common in the United States but in the Philippines where I reside, clubfitting means additional expense. I seldom encounter a golfer in my home golf course that underwent clubfitting. They just buy golf clubs as is and make the necessary adjustments. It just doesn’t work that way.

Total clubfitting with a leading golf club manufacturer involves 5 processes.

The Oscoda area itself offers a great get away for families as well as salmon anglers. The Oscoda salmon fishing in Lake Huron is both deep water and shore fishing, with deeper waters better for winter fishing and the shallow areas around the mouth of the AuSable River better for spring and fall. Since the area is one of the best known salmon and steelhead fishing areas in the United States it is important to plan your trip in advance and book guides and charters in advance, rather than expecting to just book something when you arrive.

Scuba Diving - Decompression Sickness (dcs)

Posted on March 8, 2008 - Filed Under Recreation and Sports | Leave a Comment

Getting decompression sickness while scuba diving is not an enjoyable experience. Decompression sickness was encountered when Brooklyn Bridge was being built. DCS affected the workers on the Brooklyn Bridge site who had to spend many hours near the bridge supports in compressed-air filled chambers (caissons) underwater. Upon surfacing, they suffered from abdominal cramps, joint pain, and in some cases death.

Let’s try and understand what causes decompression sickness while scuba diving. As the diver descends, he breathes in the nitrogen in the air through the tank. This nitrogen dissolves in the blood. While the diver is ascending, the lowered pressure causes the nitrogen to come out of the blood, forming small bubbles. To prevent these bubbles from becoming bigger, they need to be either re-absorbed into the blood stream or exhaled out through the lungs.

Boxing Match Can Determine Champs

Posted on March 2, 2008 - Filed Under Recreation and Sports | Leave a Comment

Boxing is a sport that has been around for centuries. A boxing match consists of two participants, usually men, who face each other in a battle of fists and speed until either one of them is knocked out or until the set number of fighting rounds has been completed.

But there is much more to a boxing match and this sport’s history for that matter. It is more than just a series of punches and jabs to land a blow or to ducking and weaving to try to evade the blows.
